Calculate your course revenue
This is an estimate, not a forecast. It assumes the same number of buyers in every launch, and the same card processing fees on every platform. Real results depend on your audience, offer and launch. Your inputs stay in your browser and are not sent anywhere.

Course platform plans and fees
These are the plan prices and platform fees the calculator uses, taken from each platform’s own pricing page on October 12, 2026. A platform fee is a cut the platform takes from each sale, on top of card processing.

*Teachable lists 0% on Builder and Growth when you use Teachable Payments. **Thinkific’s pricing page lists no per-sale platform fee; its help center lists a 5%, 2% or 1% fee on Basic, Start and Grow only when you use a third-party payment gateway, and none on Thinkific Payments, which the calculator assumes. Systeme.io’s pricing page says “No transaction fees”. Podia’s page shows yearly billing only. Card processing (Stripe, PayPal or the platform’s own payments) is charged separately, commonly 2.9% + $0.30 on US cards. Prices and fees change, so confirm on each platform’s site before you decide. How the calculator works out your revenue
| Result | Formula |
|---|---|
| Buyers per launch | Email list × share who buy, plus any extra buyers from outside your list |
| Gross sales per year | Buyers per launch × price × launches per year |
| Refunds | Gross sales × refund rate |
| Card processing | Each sale × processing percentage, plus the fixed fee per sale |
| Platform fee | Gross sales × the plan’s fee per sale (0% on most plans) |
| Plan cost | Plan price × 12 months |
| Net per year | Gross sales − refunds − processing − platform fee − plan cost |
For each platform the calculator tries every plan that fits your list size and number of courses, and shows the one that leaves you the most money. A pricier plan with no sales fee can beat a cheap plan with a fee once you sell enough. Net here is before income tax, taxes on sales and your own costs such as ads and video.

How to think about your course price
Price changes how many buyers you need
If you double your price, you only need half as many buyers to earn the same gross revenue. The calculator shows this for four price points so you can see what each one asks of your list. It does not predict how conversion changes when price changes: in real life it usually falls as price rises, so test before you commit.
Start from the result, not the topic
- A course that gets a clear, valuable result can justify a higher price than one that only shares information.
- Pre-sell to your list before you build the whole course, to learn what people will pay.
- Offer a payment plan if your price is high, and include refunds in your numbers.

Questions about course revenue and fees
How much can I earn from an online course?
It depends on your list, your price and how many people buy. A simple estimate is list size times the share who buy times the price. A 2,000-person list with 2% buying at $97 gives 40 buyers and $3,880 in gross sales for one launch, before refunds and fees.
What is a good conversion rate for a course launch?
1 to 3% of your list buying is a common rough range for a launch, but it varies a lot with how warm your audience is and how well your offer fits. Use it as a starting guess, then replace it with your own results.
What is a platform transaction fee?
It is a percentage the platform takes from each sale, separate from the card processing fee. On the platforms compared here it is 0% on most plans, but Teachable Starter lists 7.5% and Podia Mover lists 5%.
Does Systeme.io charge transaction fees?
Systeme.io’s pricing page says “No transaction fees” and lists Stripe and PayPal payments at no extra cost. Your payment processor still charges its own fee. The page also lists how many courses each plan includes, so check the limits for your setup.
Why are card processing fees the same on every platform?
The platforms compared here use Stripe, PayPal or similar processors, which commonly charge about 2.9% + $0.30 per US card sale. To keep the comparison fair the calculator applies the same rate to all of them. You can change it under “More assumptions”.
Does this include taxes?
No. Net here is before income tax, sales tax or VAT, ad spend and your own costs. It is a planning estimate, not tax or financial advice.
